Preface by Author 1

You can write a preface here. This preface was written by Simon Mudd, who also prepared this template. People like to read the preface when they are feeling tired and don’t want to think about the technical stuff in the book. It is a good place to put some personal anecdotes, for example I wrote this section on a bus.

1. Background and Motivation

You can type some stuff here.

Books are neat.

— from My Head

1.1. Another topic

I like to write stuff.

1.1.1. Further reading

Why don’t you try looking up the asciidoctor documents:

1.2. Here is another section

This is a box

Boxes are awesome. Especially when you put a list in them.

  1. Who doesn’t like a list?

    1. Crazy people

    2. Sociopaths

  2. Most people do like lists.

1.3. Summary

I can summarize a chapter here. But in the United Kingdom I summarise things.

2. A chapter

Here is another chapter. You can add sections using the include links.

2.1. A chapter

Wouldn’t it be neat to add some code?

$ git

2.1.1. You can also add images

Put your images for each chapter in the images folder.

Image one
Figure 1. This is an image
Funky image
Figure 2. This is another image

2.2. More advanced

This is even more advanced.

2.2.1. You can make a crazy numbered list

  1. This is the first thing you do.

  2. And the second.

  3. You can do neat things with plusses.

    $ echo "I am a robot"
  4. Here is something else.

  5. And finally I can do stuff to my text.

2.2.2. Did you know?

Did you know asciidoctor can handle latex math?

A very meaningful equation

\(\chi = \int_{x_b}^{x} (A/A_0)^{m/n} dx\)

Nice one.

2.3. Why not put a summary here?

Appendix A: This is an appendix

Sometimes it is useful to link to other sections in the book. Like this one, or the one with the title A chapter.

Too many appendices can lead to appendicitis.

A.1. Another appendix section

Gosh this book has a lot of sections.
